The Doomspell by Cliff McNish. The first time I looked at this book it didn't look very appealing, then someone insisted I read it. The story is about a sister and brother called Rachel and Eric, they live a normal life until one day the kids go down to the cellar and this large black claw grabs them down a dark hole... This book is the start of the series. It has a lot of adventure and fantasy. Soon Couldn't put the book down I was hooked! It is perfect for kids aged 9-13/14.
